Adobe SparkThere are several important things that can be left behind when road tripping. This article should be your road-trip-packing guide.

In case you missed it, The ultimate cheat sheet for road trips.

A portable bag is necessary to pack very important small items like 🆔 cards, credit cards, money, little documents, your ticket (as this might be needed from time to time), light makeup ( to look refreshed, we gotta keep looking our best), small books, journals and even more. This is to aid easy reach. Portable bags like tote bags, small-sized backpacks, etc.

I didn’t know what subheading to put here so… Loool..
Anyways, we have several reasons for traveling and some of them involves moving things like documents, parcels, other items, etc. Forgetting the reason for your trip is as good as not traveling at all. This should even be among the first things you pack. If you are travelling for leisure, then read on for the important things that shouldn’t be left behind.

This is important!  Like if you forget this then I don’t know why you even bothered except you plan on buying new ones when you get to your destination. If not then be sure to pack important personal belongings like toiletries, tooth brushes,  clothes, undies, etc. When packing clothes, factors like duration, destination, the weather and environment should be taken into great consideration. This would enable you pack the right set and amount of wears.

   🆔 CARD

Extremely important! A means of identification. Anything that carries your details like name, address, maybe a picture of you, etc. Countless times, people get into trouble just because they don’t posses anything that identifies them. Sometimes, on some routes, there are immigration officers on the road that are there to check this. They always ask for an ID card. Please, Just always go around with anything that identifies you.

This could come off handy when out of cash or trying to conserve money. That is if there’s money on it. It also comes off handy in cases where money is to be transfered. It is also important for people who don’t enjoy carrying too much money when travelling. I personally advice against travelling with too much cash on. Just have enough but not too much after all, we are operating in a cashless society.

Like I said enough money! (wrote about it here too). It saves a lot including stress, being stranded, it even gives this peace of mind to know that you have enough money on you.  Like you can comfortably purchase anything you want while travelling. Enough cash can also solve immediate money issues without totally breaking you.

LIGHT CHANGE (have money in different places all over you)

This is important because there are times where you quickly need to purchase some items probably from roadside sellers, that nice shop at your stop-over restaurants, etc. Avoid large denominations when buying from road sellers and always ask for change first if you aren’t with change before handing out your money.

Always keep money and copies of important documents in a safe place. This is in case of theft or carelessness.

  FOOD (snacks and other edibles)
Personally, I love packing my own snacks from home before embarking on a journey, I try to avoid buying things on the road except in extremely necessary conditions. While road tripping, snacks come in handy. You might get hungry (in cases of a long trip) when there’s no place available to buy food. Your prepackaged edibles are perfect in this case. I remember my last trip where someone really special packed me a whole plate of best prepared snails, that road trip automatically became my best trip ever!

The use of water cannot be overemphasized. This is important to keep you hydrated. When you stay hydrated, you can think and function efficiently and effectively. Water also helps us relax our minds. It could also be used for cleaning purposes during the trip. This is an important thing you should pre-pack and not run-out of in the course of your trip.

This is for people who love to read (like me). I cannot be caught without a book when traveling. It is my trip companion during my solo travel times. Take a book you know you really want to read (inspirational, religious, fashion, culinary DIY tips, etc) as this would keep you occupied during the course of the journey.

I can’t imagine traveling without earpiece or headsets. How do you listen to that total badass country music without disturbing others in the bus? An earphone comes in handy here, giving you that awesome feeling that is almost as if you are in the song like you can really feel the music, connect with the beat and even beyond. Earphones help out when you need to watch a movie, make and receive calls, etc on whatever gadget you are with. My earpiece always come through for me like that super reliable travel companion.

Gadgets especially! Traveling can get boring sometimes especially if you embark on it alone (although I’ve never felt that way). Even when there’s a travel companion or company (friends or family), gadgets are necessary for several purposes including that beautiful moment you need to capture.
Although Power banks are optional, it is advisable too. You might run low on phone battery on the way, your power bank helps out. With my power bank, I’m very comfortable using my phone from the beginning to end of a really long journey knowing that I would recharge the battery if it gets low.

We are traveling doesn’t mean we totally do away with our sense of hygiene. This is when we need to be most hygienic. As a Lady on her monthly or expecting, have at least one or two spare sanitary towels (pads) with you.  The stress of the road trip could be so much pressure and our body surely reacts to stress. At every possible stop, check yourself and make sure you are still in good condition. Use only nice and recommended sanitary towels please!  Also pant liners too for females that just concluded their period.

Apart from prescribed drugs for ill people who are embarking on road travel (this isn’t advisable for people with chronic illness), healthy roadtrippers are sometimes advised to have on them at least an aspirin or paracetamol or Panadol. These are mild, over-the-counter painkillers that can help with slight headaches or stress during the trip. I always have on me paracetamol anywhere I go because I’m really prone to developing stress-induced headaches when going through a stressful ordeal like Roadtriping. This should be taken with the right prescription please!

Remember to park lightly as heavy packing might incure more cost except you are ready to pay whatever it may cost.

Anything I left out? Let me know. What do you pack for your own comfortable road trip? let’s meet-up in the comment section.
